Innocent child, born into a darkened world,
giving out kindness in exchange for hate,
heal our fractured integrity,
sweeten our cynical bitterness,
remind us of who we were -
children of God,
light of the world,
lovers and givers of life -
and, following Jesus Christ,
return us to that place
of innocent birth
and fresh footsteps into the light.
